Bold Summit Coaching Philosophy
1. Individualization - There is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to training. You can have two athletes with the same goal take two completely different approaches for all the right reasons and they both will still accomplish the same goal. Their weaknesses, life schedule/stress, training age, and what they enjoy are different training variables that need to be considered.
2. Periodization - You can’t do everything at once, which is why we need to strategically plan training blocks to accomplish short-term goals that are still in line with your larger summit goal. Along the way, we can vary the intensity, volume, and specificity of what you want to accomplish. The other bonus about periodization is that it promotes periods of de-loading and rest which helps keep you fresh and prevents burn-out.
3. Bold Mentality - Are you praying for the obstacle to be removed or are you praying for boldness? Being bold is easier said than done, which is why we need to learn to control our thoughts and mental fortitude. A bold mentality is a key part of showing up every day, especially when you don’t feel like it. Identifying an area you need to work on mentally and focusing on that for some time can go a long way. We take a holistic approach to training and make sure to talk about to touch on the mental aspect of training.
4. Quality Over Quantity - Leaders do simple things well. Likewise, great athletes master foundational skills before adding a bunch of weight to the bar or a bunch of miles on the road. People often add way too much to the barbell, complete a lift with crappy form, or progress too quickly. Why increase your chance of injury and make it way harder to truly progress? For endurance athletes, people often want to go from 0 to 100 in running. You’re not only asking for injuries, but you’re also asking for burnout. At Bold Summit Coaching we value quality over quantity on the road and in the weight room.
5. Made To Move - There is a time and place to train muscle groups but overall, our bodies were built to move. Focusing on foundational movement patterns leads to better mobility, strength, longevity, and long-term athletic development. Plus, you can accomplish a great workout in a shorter timeframe. And yes, you can still see a tremendous body composition change by training like an athlete.
